Drunk on poetry………..

June 26th, 2010 § 0 comments § permalink

After spending the evening with Coleman Barks and Lisa J. Starr
along with three hundred poetry junkies in Mt Shasta,
we spontaneously spent the morning after, reading poems at breakfast,
the air singing with them, and still………

A piece from “Summer Food” by Coleman Barks:
“…Let us eat the solid forms of sunlight,
and walk around after supper
in the gold time,
loving eachother and talking vegetables.”

A piece from “Lair” by Lisa Starr:
“…May you once in a while, upon waking,
remember the hungry love of a panther-
her body like a dream
wrapped around you all night-
holding you tight, then tighter still,
then just as fiercly
letting go.”

And one by Rumi & Coleman Barks……
“The clear bead at the center changes everything.
There are no edges to my loving now.

I’ve heard it said there’s a window
that opens from one mind to another,

but if there’s no wall, there’s no need
for fitting the window, or the latch.”

4 for Art in Mt Shasta

June 15th, 2010 § 1 comment § permalink

4 artist friends meet once a year,
doing art with sticks and stones,
bronze and paint, cameras, pencil and paper,
inspired by everything around them…
Gratitude to all who came and all who were there in spirit!

You can now find Tim Corcoran, the gallery’s owner
and immensely talented photographer,
teaching wilderness skills at his Outdoor School throughout the summer.

Chris Schneider is currently showing his new work
at the Gallery in Mt Shasta through July 9th.

When she’s not doing her art,
Julie Boettler is assisting Tim in his outdoor school.

And I continue to find inspiration
in every day……
